2,4,6-Trimethylaniline is an intermediate widely used in dyes, pesticides and other industries. The raw material for the synthesis of mesitidine is mesitylene, which exists in petroleum. With the realization of large-scale industrial production in China, the output of mesitylene has continued to increase, so the development of its downstream products has received more and more attention. The downstream products of mesitylene, such as trimellitic acid, mesitidine, and M acid, are all important chemical products. Mesitylene is used as raw material to synthesize mesitidine. The nitration reaction of mesitylene is the key, which is directly related to the production cost and product quality.

Application

The pure product of mesitidine is colorless and transparent liquid when exposed to air, and it is easy to change color, and the product is often light brown. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. Mesitylene is an intermediate of dyes, organic pigments and pesticides. Mainly used in the synthesis of dyes. It is the intermediate of weak acid brilliant blue RAW. It is the intermediate of weak acid dye Praslin RAW.

Preparation

1) In a 50 mL constant pressure dropping funnel, first add 10 g of acetic acid, and then add 13.5 g of 98% nitric acid, stand and cool to below 25° C. for use. In a 250 mL four-necked flask, add 24.5 g of acetic anhydride and 24 g of mesitylene in sequence, and add the prepared nitric acid solution dropwise while stirring at 20-25°C. After the dripping is completed, keep it at 0~25℃ for 2h in 2Chemicalbook, then raise it to 35~40℃ and keep it for 2h. Sampling was tested by liquid chromatograph, and when mesitylene was not detected, the reaction was terminated. The reaction equation is as follows:

2) Post-treatment of nitrification reaction There are two main methods for post-treatment of nitrification reaction, water washing and distillation. Water washing method: After the nitration reaction is over, add about 40g of water to the flask, raise the temperature to 65℃, separate the layers while it is hot, wash with 65℃ hot water for 2 to 3 times, the organic phase is nitro mesitylene. Distillation method: After the nitration reaction is over, the temperature is raised to 70-80°C, and then the acetic acid is removed by vacuum distillation to obtain nitro mesitylene.
